and others you can’t find with both hands. On the golf course that is. The KCC club championship finished up yesterday and we have a new club champion this year - needless to say, I was nowhere even close this year as my game has suffered mightily due to additional responsibilities as tournament committee chairman this year. We have a lot of really steady players at the course and they brought their games this year. Although the course setup was moderately difficult, there were still some good scores. I should have those posted up on the Kennett Country Club site later this evening or tomorrow.
Congrats to the tournament winners.

In case you haven’t noticed - the Kennett Country Club site is receiving an overhaul. After I reevaluated the needs of the club and the site, it made more sense that the site should be more about offering information rather than creating a custom golf course management system to be used by the club.
A large part of this decision came by very quickly realizing that unless the administration tools were insanely easy to use - that I would be the ONLY person adding content. Therefore I made the move to a standard Wordpress blog installation, which is much easier to maintain… and if custom mods need to be made I can certainly handle that.
The SEO buffs will probably call me crazy for changing the site midstream as I’m not going to pay as much attention too the detailed page names and 301 them to the corresponding new pages to maintain rankings. The actual data content is such that this shouldn’t be a problem though, and the administrative interface will allow for others to post content as well.
If you haven’t seen the new layout - check out Kennett Country Club online now. All of the past news posts and such haven’t been migrated over yet, but I’m working on it. It may take a good week or so to get this back up to where it was, but I’m confident this will be a good move over time.

I recently updated the ‘online scorecard’ section of the Kennett Country Club website. The scorecard provides a simple overview of what you might see on the real card. No bells and whistles have been added yet, so I still provide the links to customscorecards.com if internet users would like to print a custom version of the scorecard. customscorecards.com is one of the most flexible versions of printable scorecards that I’ve found online. Until I find the time to update the KCC site, I’ll continue to link to them.

Kennett Country Club has some good competition going in in the qualifying rounds for the 2006 Semo Cup team. I didn’t post results here for the first qualifier so I’ll list results from the first two qualifying rounds.
Qualifier #1
20 points - Mike Walker ( 75 / +3 )
15 points - Jimmy Walker ( 78 / +6 )
12 points - Roger Wheeler Jr ( 79 / +7 )
12 points - Patrick McHaney ( 79 / +7 )
8 points - Donnie Shelton ( 80 / +8 )
Qualifier #2
20 points - Mike Walker ( 73 / +1 )
15 points - CW Knauts ( 74 / +2 )
12 points - Donnie Shelton ( 76 / +4 )
10 points - Jimmy Walker ( 77 / +5 )
Given the scores I’ve seen so far - I’m fortunate that I am exempt for the 2006 tournament along with 3 other players. Here is a link to the 2006 KCC Semo Cup point standings on the KCC site.

I do happen to have a life outside of work and have chosen to take on some extra projects in what little spare time that I have. Although I love them dearly, the three ladies in my life (wife and two daughters), still are number one priority in my life and therefore make it difficult to take on side projects of considerable size. One such project came to fruition in February 2006, about a year after the concept was born - the Kennett Country Club website.
For those of you unfamiliar, KCC is a golf course located in Kennett, MO. The website address is www.kennettcountryclub.com. You’ll find all sorts of useful information about the club, tournaments, a few images, and so on. Although this is my second year on the KCC Board of Directors, I had to argue pretty heavily to convince the other board members that it was a ‘good idea’ to take advantage of 24/7/365 advertising that is really, really inexpensive in the scheme of things.
I don’t take offense to the implication, but I have to mention that I’ve been approached several times with people stating that I created and will support the site so they will ‘comp’ my membership dues - a statement that is totally FALSE. I’ve already convinced the other board members that I’m not asking for a “FREE LUNCH” and will continue to support and continue to develop the site as long as I am able to do so: speaking in terms of my free time to do so. Maintenance was a concern as well since I’m the only real technical geek on the board that is pushing this. I still have some work to do on the back end of the site to allow for content additions in an easy enough manner that any non-tech person can update the site, but we are not well on our way.
The bottom line is that I work very hard for a living and plan on continuing to do so - this would include paying my KCC dues in FULL - Grrrrr… I’ll convince them yet…
The board is also hip to the idea of selling advertising space on the site to generate revenue - again, more work for me… donated for free - so hopefully we’ll be able to see some real dollars generated after the site grows up a bit.
I’ll try to keep everyone posted as changes and updates are made to the site - and if you are a local Kennett business or member that would like to donate to the cause or purchase advertising - don’t hesitate to contact me. You can find my contact information on the site.
Thanks for listening and enjoy the KCC site.
