Wish I was there… in the bar in Vegas where they shot the video, that is.
This is just one of those tech geek conferences search conferences that all of us wish that we could attend. It does happen to be in Vegas… and the wife would really like to make a trip to Vegas so maybe I’ll be able to make it next year.
Ran across a great video with Matt Cutts of Google and Vanessa Fox - formerly of Google, now trying out the Hobo Life - discussing some of the recent changes that Google has made regarding paid links, subdomains and a PageRank update.
Take a few minutes to watch the video. It has some really great information. There are points when Matt is talking that I can tell that Vanessa really wants to say something, but doesn’t. Must be great to be privy to some of the inside information at Google and be an ex-employee (confidentiality agreement or not).
Some of the search heavies weigh in:
In the end, it is Google’s ball and they can take it and go home if they want. With great power comes great responsibility and some of the opinions are that they are getting greedy… but it is their business, they built it, people are coming, and they are raking in the dollars. I’m of the opinion that as long as search relevance maintains top quality - G will be fine through all of this. Who’s going to step up to challenge their model successfully?
